What You’ll Need to Set Up Your Classroom
1. Class Name
- Choose a unique name that makes sense to you and your students.
- If your school has multiple classrooms, consider agreeing on a naming convention with your colleagues to avoid confusion.
2. Classroom Type
- Select either Junior or Senior, depending on your platform access.
- If you only have access to one platform, the other will be grayed out.
3. Year Levels
- Indicate the year level(s) of the students in your classroom.
Selecting Your Classroom Timeframe
After setting up your classroom, you’ll be prompted to select a timeframe:
- 10 weeks
- 20 weeks
- 40 weeks
Choose the timeframe based on how long you plan to use Banqer with your students (e.g., 40 weeks for a full school year).
Important: Once selected, the timeframe cannot be changed. However, if you want to extend the time your class is using Banqer, you can do this be extending your wrap-up date. See the article at the bottom of this page to understand how to do this.
How the Timeframe Impacts the Platform
Your selected timeframe influences several aspects of the Banqer experience:
- Random Events - Shorter timeframes experience more frequent random events to ensure students get the full experience.
- Career Progression - Students in shorter timeframes receive more tokens during check-ins, allowing them to advance fully in their careers.
- Renting - The leave period is shorter for shorter timeframes (2 days vs. 7 days).
- Interest on Accounts - Interest charges are adjusted to match the classroom’s timeframe, enabling savings growth in shorter sessions.
- Share Market -Classroom IPOs are scaled according to the selected timeframe.
- Notice Saver Accounts -Notice periods for savings accounts are reduced for shorter classrooms.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your classroom is ready to go and start inviting your students!
Adding extra classrooms
If you are running more than one class on Banqer High, or you would like an extra class to have as a testing area, you can easily add multiple classrooms, and toggle between them.
The name of the classroom you are in at any time will appear in the top right corner of your screen. Clicking on this will show you any other classes you have available, and also the Create a new Class button.
Clicking on the Create a new Class button will take you to the same screen as described above.
Once created, this class will appear in the dropdown mentioned, and you can toggle to whichever class you need by selecting them from the dropdown menu - you will be automatically logged into this class.
