Banqer is broken out into 10 expansions. They are laid out in a particular order, however you may want to enable some expansions a little earlier depending on how long you have to work with Banqer. If you are working to a shorter timeframe, enabling the Stock Exchange earlier on for example, can be a great idea to engage your students in this area.

How to introduce the expansions?

The approach to introducing each Expansion will vary school to school, however we would generally recommend that you take some time in class to introduce the topic first.

Depending on the level of your students, you may spend longer introducing some expansions than others.

Within each expansion you will have access to a Lesson Plan, where you will find a structured plan including introducing the topic via a Class Discussion, ideas to introduce key vocabulary,  an array of worksheets to get your students thinking and working on this topic, leading them to then take the Quiz on the topic in Banqer to test their learnings.

There are also a selection of videos available within each Expansion to introduce certain concepts to your students. Your students can also view these videos from their view. You may find it useful to use these videos when introducing the topics with your whole class prior to them jumping in and starting the quiz.

Quizzes

Each expansion in Banqer contains a quiz for your students to test their knowledge. For each question your students get correct they will earn $100 (Banqer dollars), with a total of $1,000 on offer in each quiz.

Your students will be able to re-attempt quizzes if they don't get everything correct the first time, and you will be able to see how many attempts they have made via the Student Outcomes area.

As a teacher, you can see how your students are doing in each quiz via your Learning Outcomes area. More information on this area is linked at the bottom of this article.

How many weeks should I use Banqer in my class?

That depends on each teacher’s class and planning. Banqer is highly flexible and can be used in a single term, semester or across a whole year.

How much time should you spend on each Expansion?

This will very much depend on the level of your students, how much time you have available per lesson, and how often you are seeing your students.
We recommend spending a minimum of one lesson on each expansion, however some can very easily take longer and there are plenty of resources available to allow you to spend more time teaching a particular concept.

Can students use Banqer outside of class time?

Yes, absolutely! As Banqer is an online platform, teachers and students can log in from home at any time.

Can another teacher manage the class if needed?

They sure can. They sure can. If teachers go on leave, become unwell or change classes, we’ve made it super easy to add additional teachers to your Banqer class. It’s also helpful if you co-teach! Head to your Teacher Dashboard and share the ‘Invite Teachers’ link so that other teachers can manage your class alongside you.

How can I use Banqer to reward and motivate my students?

Banqer has an inbuilt reward and incentive system, making class management easier. Teachers can award Banqer Gems as one-off payments, which can be traded for default or custom rewards in the Banqer store. Watch this video for tips on how to do this.

Can I pay my students Banqer dollars?

It is not possible to give students Banqer dollars. The reason for this is that we have modelled everything in Banqer High off of the real world, and the real-world element could be distorted if we were to allow teachers to pay students. Instead, you can reward students with Banqer Gems.
